Get fit for Autumn!

Looking for a kick start to your fitness regime? This retreat is aimed at all levels of fitness and offers a variety of activities, we are here to encourage and motivate you to get the most from your week but all activities are optional. We do not have a ‘conventional gym’ with machines, instead we prefer to do as many of the classes and activities outside in the gardens or on the purpose built platform, this way we make the most of the warm weather and get in touch with nature.
At the start of the retreat we will sit down with you and discuss your goals for the retreat and talk through any specific health concerns. In between classes there will be time to swim, relax, read, explore or indulge in therapeutic treatments. Our chef will prepare healthy, balanced and delicious meals, so all of your nutrition needs will be taken care of.

Meet The Palms Fitness team


Richard started his martial arts career with Judo at 9 years old and over 33 years has achieved the following international titles in Thai boxing; 2x world title, 2x European title, WBC intercontinental title, British title, Commonwealth title, Australian title.

In 1999 Richard took the skills, experience and knowledge gained from his professional sport carer and retrained as a Personal trainer. He subsequently opened his own gym ‘AKA’, where he currently coaches a wide range of clients with his unique training methods. His personal understanding of human movement, rehabilitation and performance through his sport led his interests towards studying Yoga, massage and dry needling, methods he then qualified in and now integrates in his bespoke sessions.
Richard has spent the last few years bringing his extensive experience to group work within retreat settings for the benefit of clients of mixed abilities, seeking weight loss, fitness and wellbeing both in the U.K. and internationally.

An active father to two boys, Richard can be found rock climbing, cycling and running in his spare time.


from BALLET and TAP DANCING through to MARTIAL ARTS in multiple disciplines and has been a part of the health fitness industry from the age of 17, and became a PERSONAL TRAINER after completing a SPORTS SCIENCE DEGREE.

A few years into teaching clients Kate became aware of how much our thoughts and emotions impact us and subsequently trained as a COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL HYPNOTHERAPIST.

Kate continued her mind body studies and qualified in SATRIA YOGA, SOMATIC MOVEMENT, BIODYNAMIC MASSAGE and is currently training as a BODY PSYCHOTHERAPIST.

She uses all of these skills in her own unique methods, helping people improve their minds and bodies in all aspects including FITNESS GOALS, ADDICTION RECOVERY, WEIGHT LOSS, CONFIDENCE, ANXIETY, BODY IMAGE, INJURY RECOVERY.

Kate has taught, presented and run workshops throughout the UK and Internationally on STRESS MANAGEMENT, HEALTH and WELL-BEING at retreats, rehabilitation centers, domestic abuse charities, corporates and sports clubs.

For Couples

Our rooms are all double rooms with either 2 twin beds or a king size bed. You and your spouse will have plenty of space in your own room. You can both enjoy all the facilities and work together to fine tune your fitness regime.

Our retreats are also great for meeting new likeminded people. You can work in groups, or by yourselves and all classes or group activities are optional.

Do you love fitness, but your spouse not so much? Then our retreats are ideal! While you can enjoy all the benefits of our retreat your spouse can simply relax at the pool, play a round of golf at the nearby 18-hole golf course, go shopping in Malaga, canoeing in the nearby lakes, hiking or simply exploring the area.

Perhaps we can tempt your spouse for a yoga class, fitness class or meditation, and who knows, they might become new born “Yogi” or fitness fanatic!

For Singletons

Our retreats are great for single people that are looking to meet likeminded individuals. The classes and group activities are designed to connect all the participants and the resort has many communal areas where you can get to know the other participants in a peaceful environment.

We have our own comfortable bar where you can get to know each better, it is a great meeting point and the heart of the retreat

For Studio owners & teachers

Are you a studio owner or teacher who would like to run your own retreat?

At The Palms Spain you get many great benefits by booking your retreat with us. You can plan your own itinerary and class schedule, prior to the retreat we will organise any external activities and treatment therapists, our chef will take care of your nutritional needs with 3 healthy meals a day and we will be hand to assist you throughout your stay. Rest assured your students will be in safe hands with us!

Circuit training is a form of body conditioning, endurance training or resistance training using high-intensity. It targets strength building or muscular endurance. An exercise “circuit” is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program

Boxercise is an exercise class based on the training concepts boxers use to keep fit. Classes can take a variety of formats but a typical one may involve skipping, hitting pads, press-ups, shuttle-runs and sit-ups.

Travel information

  • Fly to Malaga Airport (daily flights from most UK airports)
  • 20 mins transfer can be arranged from the airport to the Retreat centre
